Lyra Tuner is made by one person, phucnht. The short version: the app does not collect anything about you. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting, and it does not connect to the internet.
Microphone
- The app asks for the microphone so it can hear your instrument. It opens the microphone only while the Tuner is on screen, or while an ear-training drill or the fretboard notes trainer is waiting for you to play.
- Sound is analysed on your device, in memory, by the app’s own pitch detector. It is never recorded, saved to a file or sent anywhere.
- You can refuse or withdraw microphone access in your device settings. The metronome, chords, lessons and the other features that do not listen keep working.
What is stored, and where
The app keeps your settings and progress on your device, in the system’s app preferences (SharedPreferences on iOS, Android and macOS, the browser’s local storage on the web). That includes:
- tuner choices: tuning, reference pitch, custom tunings, strobe on or off;
- metronome and app settings, such as tempo, language, note names and left-handed mode;
- your saved chord progressions;
- practice minutes, streaks, and your ear-training and notes-trainer scores;
- which lessons you have read or checked;
- the profile you fill in, if you do: a name, your instrument, your level and goals.
None of this leaves your device unless you move it yourself. Deleting the app deletes it, and Profile → Reset everything clears it without deleting the app.
Backups you make
Profile → Export creates a backup file of the data above and opens your system’s share sheet (or copies the backup to the clipboard if sharing fails), so you choose where it goes. Import reads a backup you paste in. The app does not upload backups anywhere.
Network
The app makes no network requests. It has no server, and it includes no analytics, advertising or tracking libraries. On the web, your browser downloads the app from the site that hosts it like any web page; after that, the app itself sends nothing back.
Feedback
Settings → Help & feedback can open your mail app with a message to me@phucnht.com, or your browser on the public issue tracker on GitHub. The draft email includes the app version and your device’s operating system and version, and you see it before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send it yourself, and what you send is handled by your mail provider or by GitHub under their own policies.
This website
This site has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, handles your IP address to deliver the pages.
Children
Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.
Changes
If the app ever starts to collect or send data, this page will say so before that version is released, and the date above will change.
